My Skincare Routine

As I get older, my skincare routine becomes more and more important. I used to be completely anti-skincare routine. I’d wash my face with a bar of soap and be good and breakout free since I was a teen into my early 20’s. As I became a heavy drinker and partier and my diet turned into a fast food catering menu, my skin followed suit. So it’s no surprise that I strongly skincare starts within.

Skin type: Oily; sensitive, dry, with blackheads.

Approach: Start with a balanced healthy diet and drinking lots of water. I tend to do the same things in the morning and night every day. With the added exfoliant 2-3 times a week. This has drastically helped my hormonal acne that tends to show up on my cheeks and around my chin.

Morning:

Evening:

  1. Wash face with Kate Somerville Exfolikate Daily Cleanser.
  2. Follow with Clean Beauty Witch Hazel with Rosewater and Aloe on a cotton pad.
  3. Follow with The Inky List Beta Hydroxy Acid on my problem areas (t-zone and chin).
  4. Cover face and neck in the OneKind Dream Cream.

Often:

  1. 2-3 times a week depending on my skin, I exfoliate with Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate.
  2. After a long shower, when my pores are open, usually bi-weekly, I safely and gently extract my blackheads with a blemish extractor or a pore extractor (those sucky boys are cool!).
  3. Weekly I do a facial serum + Rose Quartz roller before bed. Better if you do it more often, but once a week is the best I can remember!

Bonus!

  1. I really want to try and add Gua sha into my routine. It is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin to relieve pain and tension. Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments!
